April Ross
April Ross has won more than one gold medal in the Olympic Games. Ross is among a few female beach volleyball players who have done so. Alix Kallineman will be competing with April Ross at Tokyo to win her third gold in the next couple of days. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. At 39, this could be her last chance do so. She's still feeling confident nevertheless. Ross stated to NBC Boston that he believes if they play their highest, or play a great game, they'll win the gold. And, I'm also going to play a bit of lucky. Ross born in 1982, and grew up within Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started playing sports in Newport Harbor High School. She was able to participate in many sports at Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete, she was also a participant in indoor track and volleyball. She was evidently the best in the game of indoor volleyball. While in high school she played middle blocker out setting and hitter on the volleyball court according to her university bio. The honor was conferred to her by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999, for her performance. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Though Ross and Klineman have been playing together in 2017 and beyond, Klineman had already been a major star on the beach even before the pair formed. She has been an active player on the beach scene over the years. Actually, she won several tournaments, including one with a famous volleyball superstar. Her partnership was with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also as Kessy's Klineman and coach. Kessy and Ross were a formidable force in the world of professional sports, winning an overall world title in 2009. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were eliminated for the gold by the legendary team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's exit. In 2016, the duo were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning the start of her professional career. The Trojans were during high school, and even years prior to going to the beach for professional. The time she spent at USC was an impressive one. In 2000 she was awarded Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman Of The Year, and was also she was an All-American. The Trojans even made it to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she experienced a devastating personal loss but still managed to repeat as an All-American. The last two years at the school, she helped lead the Trojans up to the top of the mountain netting three consecutive championships at the national level. She was a fantastic volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the college's top female volleyball player. Ross was a international relations student at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter reach the top of the beach volleyball world. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001. Ross was still an USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. She is deeply in love with her late parent. Margie has always been a source of inspiration for her, in and out of the water.
